Hey guys I was yet another victim of the old bow tie. At 140,000 miles my transmission was starting to fail, and I needed real answers fast. Capital Transmission was one of the first shops to pick up the phone. They asked the right questions, took the time to understand what was going on, and got me scheduled for diagnostics right away. They pulled the codes, explained everything clearly, and unfortunately the verdict was a full transmission rebuild front to back. I had a feeling this might be the case, so I wasn’t shocked, but I was determined to make sure the job would be done thoroughly and with quality parts. I also wanted the torque converter upgraded from the factory version to a solid billet steel bottom for better reliability. Capital gave me their quote, and before moving forward I called a few other reputable shops to compare pricing and warranties. One other shop did come in a bit cheaper and also offered a strong warranty. But here is the thing Capital Transmission made me feel the most secure in my decision. The owner and staff were extremely informative and transparent. They even walked me into the work area and gave me a brief tour, showing exactly where and how the work would be done. The place was spotless and organized, which told me everything I needed to know about the quality and care they put into their work. Another huge bonus they provided a loaner truck. No other shop offered that, and it completely eliminated the stress of having to rent a vehicle. The entire experience was seamless, professional, and surprisingly quick. They finished earlier than I expected. I got my truck back running in tip top shape. Transmission temps are lower, shifting is smooth and consistent, and the upgraded billet converter made a noticeable difference in how solid the truck feels. I know there are other good shops out there, and I am sure some do great work, but after this experience, I won’t be going anywhere other than Capital for my vehicle maintenance needs. They stand behind what they do with a real warranty, and that alone brings peace of mind. I am confident I won’t ever need to use that warranty, but if anything ever comes up, I will come back and update this review with how the process goes. For now, I am beyond satisfied. I got the transmission replaced in my nissan rogue about 6 months back. The gentlemen that run the business are nice and honest. It took them two weeks to procure and replace the transmission. After 6 months of use , I can confirm that the work was well done. Gear shift feels smoother than ever and vehicle runs just fine.

Although I towed my car here, I ended up not having my clutch repaired with him. Nonetheless, the owner was very accommodating and allowed me to keep my car there for about a week while I sold it privately. He was very understanding of my situation and I would recommend his services to anyone in the future. If he was this accommodating to someone who didn't get any service done, I can only imagine how he treats actual customers.

I took my 2013 Nissan rogue to these great guys, and it was on its last leg. Now it is traveling just like it is new. They are honest and with no gimmicks. If you are having transmission issues this is the place you want to go to.

My car's check engine light came on with codes that suggested the ignition needed replacement. I know nothing about cars and was ready to replace it. But Capital Transmission tested it thoroughly and concluded it was a false alarm. They explained everything to me clearly, and didn't even charge for the time they spent diagnosing it! I will definitely be back if / when the transmission really does die.

I highly recomend this shop for all of your transmission/differntial needs. I just had transmission replaced in my 2021 ford transit t250, excellent job and quick turnaround. Also worth mentioning is Ford dealership wanted to replace my transmission and differntial while guys at Capitol Transmission after their diagnosis said only tranmission needs to get changed, so they saved me bunch of money.

Everyone was so nice, probably the only mechanic I’ve felt comfortable taking my car to as a single female. They even gave me a free oil change! Will definitely come back if I have future car problems.

Another shop told me my Subaru Outback needed a torque converter and catalytic converter. Brian at Capitol Transmission checked it and told me the tires were wearing unevenly and were loud and the driveshaft had a slight wobble. Saved me a bunch of money. These guys were the absolute BEST!! Several local mechanics had recommended Capitol Transmission for a rebuild on my 2004 Honda Odyssey. They knew about Honda having a recall on these transmissions and they explained that there was a rebuild kit that would not only fix the problems I was having, but it would provide a bit better performance, smoother shifting, and they guaranteed the work for 100,000 miles. The rebuilt transmission now has over 200,000 miles on it and it is still running perfectly. They were professional, patient, polite, and from my experience, they certainly know what they are doing. The 04 Honda Odyssey has 320,000 miles on it right now and it is still rolling along on that rebuilt transmission from Capitol Transmission.

My transmission was shifting hard and overheating .. I brought it in and they scanned the code and it came back as "Death code". Time to rebuild the transmission..i was expecting about $8000 as it is a Chevy 3500 dump truck..However they Quoted $5500 .expensive but better to pay for quality than go find cheap price and get bad quality..they had it done in a week, rebuilt it, flushed all the lines, while it was there they repaired a rear main engine seal that was leaking and fixed a leaky fuel line.. I expected to pay for the extra work but they said no it was included...i highly recommend them..my truck now runs great, no check engine light, no stress anymore...life is good when you deal with reputable people .. I discovered Capital Transmission several years ago. I was told by a mechanic that I needed a new transmission, so I brought my car in for a second opinion. Brian and Paul thoroughly inspected the car, test drove it, and then explained that it just needed new spark plugs! They are professionals with integrity. They seem to think that if they do a good job and treat people fairly that good karma will come back to them in the long run. Three years later, when I really did need a new transmission, I went to them without hesitation. I tell everyone who will listen about Capital Transmission!

These guys were amazing. I thought I had a transmission problem but after a road test it turns out that it was something else. This outfit is the best. First, my niece came here a couple years ago and she was very happy. I came on the recommendation of another garage, as I thought my transmission was loud and shifting roughly. They checked it and drove my car, and told me everything was fine. No charge. Came across this business on Yelp after searching far and wide in the area for auto shops that provide great service and priced reasonably, with no sacrifice to quality. Needed my car towed for a transmission replacement, and Paul was very accommodating and informative from start to finish. The job was completed quickly and Paul even went so far to replace other worn out parts at no charge. Would recommend this shop to any and everyone going forward. Only bad thing I can say is rating them 10 stars is not an option.

Brian was extremely helpful when my car broke down a long way from home. He spent the time to talk through the issue with me on the phone, come up with a plan before I arrived, and had us back on the road in no time! He charged me a fair price for excellent service and saved me hundreds on what a dealer wanted to charge.

In 1975 I bought a 1969 Cutlass Supreme with about 68,000 miles. A year later at about 80,000 miles the transmission went. Brought it to Capital transmission for a rebuilt transmission. I sold the car 24 years later with 283,000 miles. Never had a single problem with the transmission.

Great place to take your car for transmission work. Brought my older Camry in and they were able to fix it without having to do major repairs as other shops would have gone the most expensive way to do so. They were upfront, honest and to top it off I wasn’t even charged for the labor. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring any other cars here if I needed work done!

They got the work done (transmission on my Nissan Rogue) with no trouble so far and gave me a 3 year warranty. They were able to accommodate me quickly and they were finished even sooner than originally anticipated. All interactions run in a professional manner from start to finish. Clean shop. Very nice, friendly, patient staff/ owners as well. I also compared what they offered me to a couple of other highly rated services in this area and they beat others in overall estimate. Will be using them in the future if needed.

I took my sons vehicle for a second opinion after being told that he would need a new transmission. Brian and Paul were excellent in getting me in quickly and diagnosing the issue. It turned out the car did not need a new transmission, just some wires that were not reattached after a previous service. I found them through a local service shop because the recommended repairs were more specialized. I know very little about cars and even less about transmissions but Capitol took the time to explain everything thoroughly to me and educate me through friendly conversation. Top-Notch! Their rebuild and reinstallation of the automatic transmission on my 20 year-old Acura couldn't have gone any better. It drives like a new car! Their communication was always immediate. You can trust these guys. I took my Nissan Maxima in because it has a transmission related diagnostic code. They evaluated it and determined that Nissan would actually cover the cost if the Nissan dealership did the work. Even though Capitol Transmission knew they wouldn’t end up with the job they did the “right thing” and helped me out. I hope I never need a transmission but if I do I know where I’m going to go. Having to replace a transmission is no fun at all. However when it was my turn, Paul and Brian made the experience much less painful. It did take longer to get parts due to supply chain issues but the car runs beautifully. AND, while we waited, Brian noticed one of the ext mirrors was damaged. HE REPLACED IT NO CHARGE. Who does that??? Did I mention the free loaner? So, no matter what your car needs, these gentleman deserve your business, period!!

Brian was SO wonderfully helpful. I was traveling to see a friend and had car issues on the drive to CT. Brought my car down for a second opinion, because my dealership told me I needed a new transmission and I didn't belive them. Had my car towed to capitol and were able to look at it within a day, was told all I needed was a new sensor! I had my 2017 Ford Fusion repaired @ Capitol Transmission and it rides like new, I previously had an issue when on vacation in Florida and although the service in Florida was quick they placed a defect fly wheel that only lasted 9 months. I dealt mostly with Brian who handle both warranty companies that covered the repair and rebuilt the transmission. I am so happy with the car it rides better then when I picked it up from the dealer I'd recommend Paul and Brian to anyone needing extensive transmission work.

Couldn't be happier with my service at Capital Transmission. I had a handful of things going on with my 2007 Corolla. Paul quickly responded to my appointment request and I was able to drop my car off first thing Monday morning. Brian was welcoming and helpful. They were able to get the work done on my car within the same day, because they knew I needed it back ASAP. I brought my car in for what appeared to be some serious transmission issues. Every shift was extremely laggy, or would completely slip. They called me a few hours later and said they found a shorted wire that was causing it and sent me on my way for no charge. My car hasn’t ran this smooth in as long as i can remember. These are really good, honest technicians and I’ll definitely be coming back here for future issues!

I really enjoyed working with Capitol Transmission. They offer a service where they will set up a kind of payment plan and store your vehicle for you until you are able to pay your bill in full. I dealt with Paul and he was very kind and patient on the phone and in person. I appreciated his clear and matter of fact way of explaining things. I even tried to get some free advice (hey, I’ll take what I can get) and he was more than happy to oblige and chat for a bit. You can definitely feel good about bringing your vehicle here!

These guys are awesome. My car broke down with transmission problems. I had it towed to their site based on other's recommendations. The identified that the issue is the transmission, but then also took the added step to call a dealer and find out if it was still under warranty. They called to let me know that it was and that I should have it brought to the dealer instead. You don't find this type of honestly and integrity often, these guys are great.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I drive a Chevy Trailblazer and recently suffered my second blown transmission in less than two years. When I called Capitol, the staff was very courteous, very professional, and highly knowledgeable about what they were doing. They rebuilt my transmission for a reasonable price and guaranteed their work with a three year 100k mile warrantee. My car has not driven as well as it now does since the original transmission came out. I am so satisfied that I personally called them to thanked them for a job well done. It feels like brand new again and I am loving it.

First of all, Brian and Paul at Capital Transmission are regular guys who understand and put their customers first. I needed a tranny and Paul was up front about the price of the it and what was needed to be done. When the truck was finished everything was working properly. This business and their team are above any beyond any regular repair center. I expect good service and value no matter where I go but these guys in my first interaction with them show they go above and beyond. Highly recommended! I can say I've never worked with a service center I have liked or done business with twice, nor have ever recommended one in my life, but these guys will gain all my future business simply due to honesty and trust.

Paul and his team are friendly, thorough, and above all, trustworthy. Despite a decided lack of car-knowledge, Paul walked me through each step of inspection of my vehicle without any technical jargon or shady fees and practices.
